More about the tour In the 19th century, Gertrude Tredwell and her family lived in the building that would become The Merchant’s House Museum. As time went on, she was left to watch as everyone she had ever loved slipped away, leaving her alone in the house. Now Gertrude’s spirit is watching as her home is under the threat of being demolished. The Merchant’s House Museum has been a presence in the city since 1936. One step inside the threshold is a portal into the day to day life of Gertrude and her family. It is also one of the most paranormally-active places in New York City. In this tour, you’ll take a walk around Greenwich Village, learning about the dark events that continue to linger in the memory of the city, including the haunting true history of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory, and the terrifying townhouse where Jan Bryant Bartell lived. And of course, you will learn the history of the Merchant’s House Museum and the story of Gertrude and her life past death. Buy the book Hungry for more?
